International Conference - The Economics of Land Degradation in Central Asia

28-29 November 2016, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan


The ELD Initiative's work in Central Asia is embraced by its core partners, the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), the Government of Germany, the Government of the Republic of Korea and the European Commission and was launched in 2014 aimed to identify the economic benefits from sustainable land management and provide economically sound approaches to address land degradation problems.

At the conference, alternative land use opportunities and economic benefits from adopting sustainable land management in Central Asia will be presented as well as a regional project report. Further, this conference will offer an opportunity deliberate on the findings and recommendations as related to the Green Economy vision, the national and regional vision of the Sustainable Development Goals, and plans for the adaptation to climate change.
