Lindsay Stringer

Visiting Professor at the University of York

Lindsay Stringer is currently a Visiting Professor at the University of York. She has held roles such as Coordinating Lead Author for the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) Regional Assessment for Africa and Lead Author for the IPBES Land Degradation and Restoration Assessment. Additionally, she has served as a Lead Author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on Climate Change and Land and the IPCC's Sixth Assessment Report. Her academic journey includes positions at the University of Leeds, where she was a member of the School of Earth and Environment from 2007 until 2020. Beyond academia, Professor Stringer has engaged in research projects totaling more than £42 million, supported by various funders such as NERC, ESRC, BBSRC, EPSRC, the Leverhulme Trust, and the European Commission.
