Paulo Augusto is an economist specializing in environmental economics and a pioneer in the economic valuation of biodiversity. He holds degrees in economics and statistics and has contributed to the understanding of the economic implications of biodiversity loss and ecosystem services. Paulo Augusto has published 100+ articles in academic journals and has collaborated on interdisciplinary research projects, focusing on sustainable development and environmental policy. His work emphasizes the integration of economic and ecological perspectives to inform public policy and private investments. Paulo Augusto is recognized for his impact on both academic discourse and practical applications in environmental management. He holds field work experience in Asia, Middle East, Africa and the SIDS. Currently, as a Member of the Finance Taskforce of the UN Decade for Ecosystem Restoration at the World Bank, Paulo Augusto coordinates initiatives to unlock capital for ecosystem restoration and foster investment. Previously, Paulo Augusto served as a Climate and Environmental Statistical Advisor at the IMF, leading a capacity development program in Colombia to enhance environmental statistics. He is Full Professor of Agricultural and Resources Economics at the Ministry of Education, Italy, and Associate Editor "Ecosystem Services” journal, Elsevier.
