Vanja Westerberg

Environmental Economist and Co-Founder of Altus Impact
Vanja Westerberg is an environmental economist with +15 years of experience in applied research, consultancy and management positions, combined with extensive fieldwork spanning Europe, Africa, South America and the Middle East. She works with private, public and non-governmental organisations, to inform and design initiatives, instruments and policies that create the conditions for accelerating nature conservation, regenerative economies and sustainable agri-food systems. Her main toolbox includes participatory stakeholder engagement, ecosystem and natural capital assessments, impact evaluation, cost benefit analysis and the building of relevant data tracking platforms. She co-founded Altus Impact, a social enterprise.
Teaching experience: training in economic valuation, natural resource management and policy instrument design (in Kazakstan 2023 and Kyrgistan 2020 for the Green CA network; online 2022 & 2021 for the FAO; Madagascar 2019 for GIZ ELD; Senegal 2017 for the Near East Foundation; DRC 2014 for the Conservation Strategy Fund; 2012 in South Korea for the UN TEEB) as well as semester long courses for Swiss Sustainability Management School.
